The January 30th edition of Politico Morning Tax posted this report from the National Conference on State Legislatures showing that states brought in $847.1 million more in sales and use taxes last year after the Supreme Court rolled back restrictions on states’ ability to tax out-of-state online retailers in its June 2018 ruling in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. The NCSL report says that the increase is “primarily” due to states having the ability to expand sales tax bases because of the Wayfair decision.
