2009 National Catalog Advocacy & Strategy Forum a huge success!

USPS President, ACMA Director & USPS Marketing Manager present "The Future of Catalogs" at the NPF

Unexpected Member Benefit: ACMA helps several member companies get officially recognized by the USPS for the Summer Sale

In an unanticipated benefit for being an ACMA member, Your Catalog Advocate was able to help eight different ACMA member companies insure they were qualified for the USPS Summer Sale event, saving precious weeks that would have otherwise been lost as these companies had to wait for the arrival of official USPS notification letters, only to find nothing was "in the mail" and having to start the process then.  Each company had the required documentation to qualify but, for a variety of different reasons, were not on the original list of qualifying catalogers.  ACMA was able to work with the USPS team managing the Summer Sale to make sure the issue was resolved weeks before it would have been otherwise possible.  This is another great reason why it is clearly in each cataloger’s selfish best interests to support ACMA!  We cannot represent your interests without your participation.  Join ACMA today, make sure your voice is heard and reap all the benefits of membership!

FROM OUR DIRECTOR

Dear Members and Friends:

Welcome to our newly designed website!  There is a growing amount of information on both sides of this site but you really need to be an ACMA member to get the maximum benefit from it.  We would be quite happy to make this happen.  You can register here or drop us an email so we can answer your questions.  Better yet, come get involved and then make a decision.

Summer Sale: Check out items under "Recent News" for the latest. Come to the ACMA Forum and get a 1 on 1 private consultation with the USPS on volume thresholds and attend a special briefing at the NPF.

How about another massive increase to catalog postage cost?  Think lightning cannot strike the same place twice?  No way?  Check out "PRC warns catalogers..." under Recent News to the right then read our response to the attack on catalogers right under it.  No one told us this in 2005, but it is hauntingly similar to what happened just prior to enormous rate hike of 2007. Sadly, ACMA does not presently have the resources to stop this.  You can change this.  Join ACMA now or make a donation to our Litigation and Advocacy Fund.  Better yet, do both.  Only through a unified catalog industry action involving hundreds of catalogers will our industry enjoy economic access to the mail.  ACMA work has already generated a 9-fold return on investment for its members but we must dramatically step up the activity if we are going to address the challenges and attacks we face.  Your involvement is critical to this happening (please see below for more on ACMA's advocacy).

If you missed the second annual ACMA National Catalog Advocacy and Strategy Forum in Washington, DC on May 20-21, 2009, you really missed it according to those executives in attendance.  We had a wonderfully productive discussion with policy officials on the future of catalogs. Several non-member companies participated and it looks like we will have 100% join us as new members based on the value of ACMA that they now really understand at a personal level.  The ACMA Board must ultimately make this decision but there was talk about doing it again in April 2010 adjacent to that year's National Postal Forum (www.npf.org), the definitive annual event for businesses that mail.
